When your accounting office works in your business

The accounting office that works with your business can open it in SmartBill straight from its office app, without a shared password and without a user in your business. Each opening belongs to one staff member and one business only.

  • When it is available: only after you approved the office’s access to your business. Removing the office’s access also stops these openings.
  • How long it lasts: up to 12 hours. Opening the client again from the office app restarts the time, and opening another client moves the work there.
  • What you see at the top: a slim bar that says Opened from your office app with a Log out button.

Choose the screen the staff member uses:

  1. In the office app, open the client and choose Open in SmartBill. A new browser tab opens.
  2. If another SmartBill account is already signed in on this browser, Switch account? appears. Choose Continue to switch to the client’s business, or Cancel to stay in the current account.
  3. The business dashboard opens, with Opened from your office app at the top of the screen.
  4. When you finish, choose Log out in the top bar and confirm.

What stays hidden while the office works

These openings are for day-to-day work on the business: documents, expenses, customers, reports and payment links. Decisions only the business owner makes are not shown:

  • Switching to other businesses and managing the account’s businesses.
  • Team and access, subscription, billing and subscription invoices.
  • Setting up a payment provider (payment links and payment requests still work).
  • Connecting SHAAM and Google accounts, webhooks, API keys and AI settings.
  • Uploading expenses by WhatsApp, the business’s notification settings, and the list of offices connected to the business.
  • Deleting the business or the account.
  • This link has expired or was already used: each link works for one minute and one opening. Open the client again from the office app.
  • Access to this client was removed: the business owner removed the office’s access, or the office stopped the staff member’s access.
  • Your session for this client ended: 12 hours passed, access was removed, or you logged out. An open tab notices within a few minutes, or when you return to it. Open the client again from the office app.
